Submission Guidelines

Fiction - No more than 7500 words. Can include Flash, micro, etc. Spin the usual tales around and dance on the grave of the classics. ANY Genre. Can be experimental.

(Please double-space and serif font 12 pt. and number your pages)

Poetry - Any kind. Format however you like. Multiple poems in one document. No more than 5 pages. Exceptions can be made if it’s really interesting. We can be more lenient. Prose Poetry accepted and encouraged.

Nonfiction - Essays, flash, stream of consciousness, etc. Any way you want to tell us your story. We just want real. Tell us your deepest fears and your best memories. Tell us the real shit you’ve had to deal with. Special interest in Queer, BIPOC, neurodivergent, disabled, etc. stories. We love diverse perspectives. If it’s political and opinionated, feel free to submit. Bigotry and harmful language are not tolerated.

Art - Anything that you think fits with our magazine. All styles and media welcome. Preferably .jpg - .png, or .pdf is also acceptable. Please title your artwork.

All submissions can be sent in the form located on the Submit page.

We will ask for your permission to publish works in narrated video/audio format. We intend to upload narrations to Youtube to promote your work and eventually monetize so we can pay our writers and artists. If you do not want your work narrated and used in video/audio, it will not affect your chances for publication.

Lavendwriter Magazine gets first serial rights but after it’s published here, rights return to the writer/artist.

We only accept original, previously unpublished works. Unpublished/new writers are encouraged to submit. If your submission is declined, feel free to submit something else at any time.

We will not accept anything that glorifies or perpetuates discriminatory or bigoted viewpoints.
